From Mittenwald to Krün / Wallgau and up to the Fischbachalm

Synopsis: In the latter part a steep and hard ride into the Soiern group. Variants: An option is the ride back via Vorderriß. Caution: before the end of the forest road, which leads only to a cable for material transport, take the turn to the left onto a small trail. If not from Mittenwald, also start riding in Wallgau or Krün. | ||||||

We leave Mittenwald at the northern exit near the military barracks. Crossing under the highway B2 and following it on the bicycle way we reach the Seinsbach after 4.8km. Here to the left over a bridge and in front of the highway upwards to the right we pass the Seinsalm and follow the sign to Krün after some hundred metres. | |
| We reach Krün passing the Isarstausee, where we have one of the most magnificent view to Alpspitze and Zugspitze, after a total of 8.75km. | |

Now our way leads us rapidly upwards. On a wide forest way with trees giving some shadow, you may enjoy the next 4km. Then a single steep slope with 14% to 18% inclination follows over 1km and makes our calves burn. The good news is that after this, we have nearly reached the comfortable resting terrace of Fischbachalm with its great view to the Soiern mountains. | |
